Thank you Queer Screen Mardi Gras Film Festival for including us in your 30th festival along with World Pride! We were thrilled to be introduced to Australian audiences and included in a panel of amazing local artists and activists. This festival was magical!

Our Lisa Marie attended the Viterbo for the VIII International Conference on Community and Gender as a keynote speaker. Our film screened with Italian subtitles provided by Immaginaria Film Festival. We were honored to take part in this important conference and engaging conversation.

In Her Words screened at the Gaze International LGQTQ+ Film Festival on October 1st. The audience stuck around after the screening to share their lesbian literary loves with our a fabulous guest panel of speakers: artist Sarah-loy Ford; Alexis Bard Johnson, Curator at the ONE Archives at the University of Southern California Libraries; Jess Bernard of Small Trans Library.

Katherine V. Forrest and Lisa Marie Evans joined the September 17th screening at The Palm Springs LGBTQ+ Film Festival. What a great crowd and this was the first time Katherine and Lisa Marie saw the film with an audience.

We’re excited to announce In Her Words will be screening in Italy for the The 17th IMMAGINARIA International Film Festival of Lesbians & Other Rebellious Women on Saturday April 23rd and Monday the 25th. We are currently submitting to festivals.

We have news to share and we are so honored to share it with you. The Publishing Triangle just announced that our film is the winner of this year’s Publishing Triangle Leadership Award. “Created in 2002, this award recognizes contributions to LGBTQ literature by those who are not primarily writers, such as editors, agents, librarians, and institutions. This year’s winner, the first feature documentary to be honored, receives $500.” Read on…

We honored the memory of Sandra Moran, who passed away 4 years ago. Sandra and Marianne began this project and we all carry it out in her name, and often with her help.
“My wish for humanity is that everyone has a belief to which they can turn in times of need or crisis - something that gives them a moral compass and helps them distinguish between right and wrong.” (Infinity, “Nudge,” page 123).

Here’s our larger than life Skype participation in the panel discussion for Story Days Short Film Screening with award-winning photojournalists from Tampa Bay Times at The Dali Museum. Your Real Stories Inc. included our 5-minute promotional film as part of the screening.

Our team met for a few days in Ann Arbor, MI where we discussed distribution strategies, licensing, and insurance. Gotta keep that energy rolling. There are many, many facets to creating the film. And then there’s distribution. We’re working on the right path to get the film out there for you!

The Golden Crown Literary Society hosted us for a preview of our progress for In Her Words and gave us a beautiful audience with whom to share pieces of our work. We are still in post-post-production to finalize edits and work with sound & color.
June 2019
We screened a few clips-in-progress of interviews at 21c Museum Hotel in Bentonville, AR. The evening began with a reception from 6-7 pm, followed by the screening, and a conversation with guest artists, filmmakers Lisa Marie Evans and Cheryl Pletcher, and author Jenifer Levin of "The Sea of Light."
21c "Pride" t-shirts were gifted to the first 50 attendees and it was a fabulous evening.

We spent the weekend in San Diego meeting with and interviewing internationally renowned LGBT scholar and historian, Lillian Faderman, who will narrate the film.

We hit the Bay area for fantastic interviews with Karin Kallmaker and Achy Obejas.
December 2018
We traveled to London for an interview with Sarah Waters to learn about her experience with Tipping the Velvet. We discussed key sociopolitical events that occurred in the UK surrounding that time and concluded our afternoon with a cuppa tea. We’d say it was a lovely experience.

We flew to LA for a very heartfelt interview with Claire McNab, focusing on Lessons in Murder. Claire is funny, sweet, and still maintains her Australian accent.

We came to Portland, OR to interview Patrick Califia with a focus on Macho Sluts published in 1988. Patrick has since transitioned to male and remains an activist on many levels. What an informative and thoughtful interview, especially regarding the many identities we move through in life and being allies for all.

The team gathered for strategic planning and brainstorming in Ann Arbor, MI. We are so fortunate to have such a beautiful working relationship in the spirit of this good work.

We're happy to share some updates from the Golden Crown Literary Conference of 2018 in Las Vegas. Marianne & Cheryl gave a successful presentation to the conference attendees with updates on the project. Check out the two icons of lesbian fiction, Elana Dykewomon and Dorothy Allison, displaying the Legacies of Lesbian Literature logowear sold at the GCLS annual conference as a fundraiser for the project. We ventured to Minneapolis, MN to interview mystery writer and Grand Master, Ellen Hart, with a focus on Hallowed Murder. Artist Kat Wilson came along for the trip to photograph Lisa Marie Evans for a photo essay on the filmmaker and documentary. Stay tuned.
January/February 2018
In January we interviewed Nancy Garden's widow, Sandra Scott, regarding her experience with the trial around Annie On My Mind. She also gathered many archival materials of Nancy Garden's to share with us. We then ventured to Lesléa Newman's home where she opened up her personal archives to us to gather materials.

Cheryl and Lisa Marie ventured to Virginia for an interview with Rita Mae Brown and a visit to the University of Virginia to research Brown's special collection. Rita Mae gave an amazing reading. Just wait until you hear it. We stayed with Sandra Moran's mother, Cherie, while in VA where there are beautiful sunsets.
